Default Yummy potty pads!

So we finally brought home our little girl this afternoon. She's 8 weeks old (I know, save the lecture please).

She knows what to do on the potty pads, much to my shock and delight when she had to potty she walked right into the ex-pen and went on the pads. Now that she's explored and played, it's time for her to rest and spend some time in the ex-pen so when she went in there and walked into her crate, I closed the ex-pen door. Within 5 minutes she was trying to eat the pads.

I've had older pups start chewing on their pads, that's when I knew it was time to start removing them and transition to solely outdoors. However at 8 weeks, there is no way she's ready for that yet.

I'm in a pickle. I need to have the pads in there, and I need her to not eat them! Any suggestions other than putting a toy in her mouth instead every time I see it?
