I stopped the wet food night before last, after he had a runny poop, and just gave the moistened dry food all yesterday. I thought that might have been what caused his upset tummy. He had the boiled chicken breast for the last three days, just a little bit when he would have his nutrical . I didn't give him the chicken till around dinner time last night (our dinner time) his poop firmed up during the day yesterday, but after the chicken, it gor runny around 10 pm last night.
I leave his kibble and water 24/7. He hasn't gone poop this morning yet, but he did eat the kibble well during the night and drank lots of water with no runny poo yet this morning. I will see how his next one goes. The vet had wanted him off the wet rx food within seven days because its super rich, so that's why I thought that was what caused it. He had no canned food at all yesterday and his poop had firmed back up, until I gave him the chicken again.
His gums are nice and pink now instead of the stark white they were, when I rescued him last Thursday. So I think his blood sugar is good now, he also is super energetic now too. Should I continue the nutrical , since his blood sugar seems ok now? It was extremely low last Thursday when I got him, and he was going into a hypoglycemic coma within 20 mins of getting him and taking him to the vet. The first few days I gave him more nutrical and Caro syrup, but slowly cut down to 3 times a day of the nutrical and cut out the Caro syrup. Right now I'm not sure if I should continue the nutrical and the boiled chicken, as he is seeming to have a sensitive tummy . Should I maybe just try today to just keep him on the kibble and water to se how he does?
It's hard to figure out exactly what to give him, but on the up side health wise he seems like a whole different puppy, than the one I picked up and rushed to the vet on Thursday. He's only almost 10 weeks old so I don't want to deprive him of something he really needs because he's doing so well now, other than the runny poop last night. He as a ton of energy and loves to play, but I limit his playtime to 15 mins and make him nap in between. I also am not giving him a huge space to run around in yet, so he doesn't burn to many calories. I have him in a playpen. |
