What I need to know is at what age should the nursing stop and should I intervene or let the mother take care of it?
I have worked full time until July 31st, and I still keep all my babies until 14 weeks old. I dont separate my babies from my mommas...let nature take care of these mommas and what they know to do with their babies. Unless she is a terrible momma, she knows exactly what to do, when to do it, how to do it, etc....YOU shouldnt have anything to do with the babies at 8 weeks of age except to visit with them, play with them, socialize them...but as far as a bunch of additional work, there should be none, and you can make sure they all get their puppy vaccines like they are supposed to, and tolerate the vaccines....I separate my babies from my mommas the last week before they go to their new home....that is week 14. I allow momma to socialize with them IF SHE WANTS TO AT THAT AGE, but the are separated at night so it isnt so tough on the new owners.
