I would just watch them very carefully when they ar out and at any sign of going place them on the pads. I trained Cali to go on the Jump Start pads from Petsmart and she trained so quickly I couldn't beleive it. They are more expensive but well worth it in my eyes. I know this isn't the right way to train but I set up her dog playpen with her bed and blankets on one end and her pad at the other. She always went on the pad and when she is out I leave the end open and she just hops in there to go. She was 9 weeks old when I got her and with in a few weeks she was trained 99%. Good luck.
