My neighbors dog just shakes and pants big time when it rains hard or storms. I just give her about 3 drops of liquid Xanax (with just a touch of honey in it) and in about 15 minutes she is calm and playing with her ball or snoozing.
You could talk your vet about it. Xanax acts quicker than some others - but the liquid can be pricey - the pills are much less and if you wrap a little cheese around them they can just gobble them down. My neighbors dog gets so upset she won't even eat the cheese so I use the liquid for her.
