Just waiting to hear from breeder. See how the whelp went (its important how the mother did), pups borne all healthy no hernias, etc, nursing well, birth weights. |
Whelp went well, how-ever despite 36 hours of constant care, one male puppy did not survive :-( Puppy born with internal fluids what I think she means is a "water baby" his breath went bad, and we could not save him. Her translated words.
Remaining litter feeding very well. One difficulty with the large breeds even with safety rails Mom can sit on a pup and kill them. We usually sleep in whelping room for the first week or so. We did not get to birth weights she was exhausted when we stumbled through our phone call.
So today sent $500 deposit through Western Union, it was easy as pie to do. And it is fully refundable if no show quality female for me. Yes !
Contract is being made as I write this up.
Hopefully that will go well too. I wonder if she will get it translated into English for me?
Her asking price is with-in reason. Now if she remembers the terms we agreed to about 3 yrs ago. We shall see.
Anyhow any contract is only as good as the folks behind the contract.
So I am hoping for pics about the same time I imagine a contract for my review will come through.
There is no law between Russia and Canada that would be able to enforce a contract agreement. To me what is important that some things are spelt out clearly between us. It provides a guideline for breeders to act with-in.
I will be expected to get dual championships, at least a CD title in obedience, keep gal very very fit, show up to all Nationals she wants us at.
She will send me her training regime, already approved my trainer (Ilona), and now I need to find a new pro groomer.
Full gambit of health testing done. She will not be bred prior to 2yrs old and by just past 2yrs old must have all her screenings done.
The breeding and this is my request, all studs scruntized through her, her health checks done for Russian bred dogs and or European dogs, Russian lineage scrutinized and shared with me, to what is on and off the books health wise.
I want her to send her grooming instructions to my pro groomer and in so far as possible with language and distance problems help out with the grooming. I am hoping SKYPE is available in Russia :-)
She has agreed to be my mentor, along with my other mentors. I have my Russian to English translator (Ilona god love her), who is also my mentor.
I agreed to reduced tail. With much agonizing over that. It essentially will disqualify the dog from any International Show, except in Russia. God how exciting would that be to travel to Russia for a National Specialty there and win it! Even in the USA we might get 40 dogs at a National, in Russia they get 400 dogs!.
Sorry for rambling. One is supposed to be circumspect as a breeder. But this is a piece of very good news in a very long time.
And anyhow I am the crazy dog lady. A title I quite enjoy.
