It most certainly does sound like he is depressed. It also sounds like he is having issues with low blood sugar, since he so little and not eating.
Do you know if blood work has been on him to see if there may be anything wrong?

Also with all the stress and now having blood in the stool, I would have him checked for HGE which can happen when real stressed, and this can also be very dangerous.
