Yesterday we struck a VERBAL agreement with the owners of the camp that we were trying to buy. We were SO happy, ready to go up this weekend, sign papers, etc... Less than 1 hour later, the guy calls DH back and tells him that there was another buyer who was interested before us and she offered $500 more than we did, so out of obligation he has to go with her since she was there first. ..... UNLESS, we want to outbid her. What an A$$!!!! He made the agreement. He never should have made an agreement if he was going to let another buyer try to buy it over us. Also, he sounds like hes being all right & morale in making sure the other buyer who was there first has the first option, except he said we could outbid her! WTH! He's not morale, he just wants more money. We told him No. We told him he made the agreement with US and what he did was WRONG. DH & I were/are CRUSHED! We were really looking forward to that camp! It was a waste of our time to go back and forth with the guy all week and secure the funds, just to be told we 'lost' by $500. We are putting an offer on another camp that does not meet our needs but with the cost, we are hoping to do some work right away and have it meet our needs. I hope this guys sale falls through! Talk about selling yourself out and your word out ... for a measily $500. JERK! We really are crushed, this is the 2nd one that we were told Yes, then No.
Thing is, its super hard to get into this campground.
