My issue with AKC was when I first started breeding, I sent my litter registration information to AKC, like you are supposed to, when the pups from that litter were sold.. I sell on a spay/neuter contract...when they spay/neuter the pup, and the vet verifies it, I then send the puppys registration paper to the new owners. When they come to pick up their baby, and we go over everything for 2+ hours, they are shown the application for registration for their baby, they even are asked to put their own name, in their own writing, on the application, so they know there has not been any switching of papers. Well, the AKC took it upon themselves to go ahead and send duplicate registration applications to the new owners, from the information they gathered from the litter record information I had sent them. They did this, unknown to me and totally against what my business policy is, so they could collect the $$$$ for the registration of those babies! Thank God the people that bought that litter from me, were honest and understood how the pups were sold, and they did exactly what we had agreed to do...but they COULD have just kept the pups intact, used them for breeding, and never looked back. I found that reprehensible on the part of the AKC, just so they could collect their pound of flesh. They did not care if those babies were spayed/neutered or not...their sole interest is to generate revenue for themselves, pizz on me and my policies and spaying/neutering pups. I resent that! So I think all registeries have issues with some of their practices and their policies.....and some of them are NOT in the best interest of the breeder, but are aimed at generating revenue for themselves.
