I have always been a dog person, but I never was a little dog person. In fact, for the longest time, I wanted to get a Neo Mastiff...and then my moms friends started breeding yorkies and my mom ended up with 2 of them. I thought they were really cute and they grew on me...and then when I learned that they portable and could easily fit in my purse and go places with me, I wanted one. Shortly after I started looking, my moms friend needed to rehome the father of my moms dogs and it was a no brainer. It's been yorkie love ever since and I just adopted my second one a few months ago.

Ironically, my first yorkie is anything but social and he makes a miserable travel companion. He's nervous in the car and he's scared of strangers...but he had such a personality. I've been around so many different breeds and they've never had a personality like my little guy has. I swear he doesn't know he's a dog.

To top it all off, the fact that they don't shed and don't stink like a dog is a big deal to me. I didn't even realize how great it was until I went home and was around my dads english cocker spaniel. I gave it a bath and it still smelled!! I don't ever remember dogs smelling or shedding being an issue for me in the past, but now that I have these little guys, I don't think I could ever go back.
