| New Parent- Questions About My YorkiPoo? Hello, I am new to YT and new to having a puppy! Jasper is my first puppy and YorkiPoo. Anyways, Jasper is black and on his chest and legs and feet he has a little bit of brown. His mom is a white toy poodle and his dad is a yorkie! But since he is my first puppy, I don't really know if some of his behavior is normal. Here are the questions I have: 1. When I take him outside, he eats the grass, leaves, and he kind of buries his nose into the ground. Is this normal? 2. I am having a hard time crating him... He is especially bad at night. We have the crate in the same room with us, but he still barks and howels and growels and cries. But he takes 20-30 minute naps in it just fine. I lead him in with a toy, then I pet him for a couple of minutes, he drifts off, and I zip up the door (couldn't afford a "real" crate. It's made out of like, tent material and the door and sides are made out of mesh) and he will look up at me but go to sleep. He will start whining sometimes but I ignore him, but if he stops for a minute or two I will let him out and in ten minutes I will try again. But that's only for naps but I would do that for nighttime too. But at nighttime... It's like he knows we are going to sleep and won't be there to tend for him even though we are in the same room with him because we move the crate to our bedroom where my siblings and I sleep. He just barks and howels and growels MORE! This results in me not getting enough sleep. I am mostly the one that takes care of him (feeding him, playing with him, taking him out to pee, etc.) so he always follows me around, and I have to be with him 24/7, so I'm the one that gets only 5 hours of sleep. I'm starting to feel sick because of it... (It was part of the deal I made with my parents to let us get a puppy. Although I'm the only one keeping the promise, my sister isn't. ) 3. He barks/howels/growels when someone opens or closes a door, and I usually say "No!" and pick him up and carry him to another room, but he struggles and keeps doing it!!! 4. He bites on stuff. People included. How can I stop it? I just say "No!" (not that harshly. Is that the problem?) and I either turn around for a couple of seconds or I pick him up. But he will just bite my shirt... 5. He barks at people and other dogs! Just yesterday, when we took him to the vet for his first appointement and shots (one went on his behind, the other up his nose. I forget the names) and when we were waiting for the vet, he was barking LOUDLY and groweling and howeling at everyone!! SO EMBARRASSING!! And the workers who were in the other room came in and said, "That's the dog that was barking?!?! He's so tiny!!" and laughed and petted him but that just made him more frusterated LOL. How do I make him stop this behavior?! 6. When we walk him, he always stops in the middle of the road and refuses to move... Also, we have to carry him out the door, even if we are taking him out to go pee. Does this happen to you? How did you fix it? 7. He will start barking for no reason?!?!? 8. If I have to clean up his pee/poop, I will have my brother or my sister hold him so he doesn't see me clean it up. But he will bite them or jump out of their arms to get to me. I guess I am flattered, but he followes me EVERYWHERE. I really want some time alone. Plus I don't want him to see me clean it up because he'll think, "Hey, I should always go potty on the floor since she wants me too!" Ya know? How do I make him stop being so attatched?! It's starting to get so annoying and if I put him in his crate I feel like he will think it's for punishment and he will never go in! I'm sorry for the long questions.. I REALLY need these answers though! Thank you so much for answering. I'm sure I'll have more later on, LOL. -Calli and Jasper
