Another thing you can try is a cold pack. I have several ones of different sizes, I keep in the freezer, get the kind with the Velcro fasteners.

If you do a google search, under pet cold wraps, there are several companies that will sell them for different parts of the canine body. They are pricier than the drug store brands though.

Getting and keeping the weight down like everyone else said is important too.
