My Ricky has long legs as well and he's a purebred. He is actually about an inch taller than my other male, and he literally weighs half as much...and it's because he is ALL legs.
The breed standard calls for 7lbs and under and your little guy is a little over that, but it doesn't necessarily mean he's not a yorkie. There are other people here who have yorkies that are over 7 lbs.
