Have you tried an undercoat rake on the cotton coat? This if there is undercoat present will take that undercoat out.

Also have you or the groomer tried thinning shears on the coat?

I use a wide toothed comb first on the tangles and or mats. Start from the botton of the coat, and hold with your other hand the area you wish to brush/comb out.

For conditioner which ever one you use, use a whole lot of it, and make sure you saturate the roots, and lift up the coat to get all through the coat.

Let the conditioner stay in for 10-15 minutes, meanwhile you wrap your boy in a towel and hold him on your lap.

Rinse but do not rinse all of it off.

Then a must blow it dry using a pin brush - CC makes good ones - called a wooden pin brush. Then use a wider tooth comb to comb through and finish with a smaller tooth comb.

Have a grooming spray on hand, so that as the coat dries where you have not blown it dry you can re-wet the coat.
