Right now we're trying to do strictly outdoor training with our 19 week-old yorkie Cookie. She generally has 1-2 accidents a day in the house and 7-8 pees/poops outside. We take her out every 30 minutes she is up, after any nap, immediately after any meal and then 15 minutes after any meal, but she occasionally has really bad days like yesterday where she went 4 times in the house and refused to pee outside most of the times I took her out in the mid afternoon to early evening hours (very hot right now that time of day).

I can usually get her to go pee/poop outside by taking her to an area outdoors she has previously marked and giving the command "Go Pee", but I'm thinking her problems yesterday might be related to this horrible heat wave the San Antonio area is under now and for the forseeable future.

Do you guys think it would be wise to bring back pee pads but still do the scheduled outdoor trips also? Cookie was trained until 14 weeks on pee pads and the doggy door at her breeder, but we have used neither, because:

(1) We didn't want to confuse her into thinking pottying inside is OK and we have a nice big back yard for her to potty in
(2) The doggy door is completely out of the question since someone a mile away from me had her yorkie puppy stolen, and I'm just not going to take that chance of her being outside without an adult present.

She doesn't pee on furniture, doesn't poop inside, doesn't go to the bathroom in her crate, but sometimes she sneaks in a pee on the kitchen tile or even worse the living room floor between our schedule, and other times just flat out doesn't want to pee outside.

Ideas?
