I feel a need to retract my statement as far as blaming the breeder.....at the time I wrote this my heart was still breaking over the loss of Isabella....I have since learned so much more about this disease.....yes it is tragic....but...we can not blame the breeders for this.....it would be like blaming the parents of a child who contracted a terrible disease.....we do not know enough about this disease to put the blame on any one thing.....it looks to me by reading stories here regarding GME.....that Cheryl did indeed step up and offer help.....I am sorry for all who have had to endure what this terrible disease does to our innocent babies.....what we need is more research on this disease rather than just lay blame......if you have a Yorkie who has been recently diagnosed with GME/NME/NLE please do not blame, instead find a University who is doing studies and research on this disease.....University of Georgia Nuro dept has an excellent study going, Dr Renee Barber, also University of North Carolina has a study ongoing also in their Nuro dept. I know its hard to think of what you can do for research but the biggest help is to have a necropsy done as that is the only true way to diagnose this disease and be willing to offer your babies organs to research....I know thats a hard decision to make at such a terrible time but that is the best way you can help....by doing this it does not mean you will not have your babies remains with you, I offered Isabella's vital organs to University of Georgia and was still able to have her remains cremated and returned to me....I have finally reached a point where I do feel terrible for blaming Isabella's breeder, and have since apologized to her....I realize now she was a victim as much as we were....
