Instead of worrying what we do in our state, it would be great if you were involved in yours? Eh? They are all over the place, it is just that in PA due to the Amish, we have more. I wish you and others would work harder in getting these places shut down in your state as well. As many YT people here say, education is a priority. I am not specifically a "YT" person and you stating I keep my eyes shut or "immune" was uncalled for. I could easily say that same statement to you as never hearing of a Saluki and they are an ancient breed. But then again, like you said also, your a "YT" person so how would you know? Being involved, like I am, in a rescue with a diversity of breeds is interesting and makes me less ignorant. Bill Smith, who is considered the King of puppy mill rescue, has his own way of doing the rescues. Another educational fact is that it would be wise for you to do some investigating about the laws here in PA if your going to make such statements as the public "doing more". We cannot just go onto private property and seize any dog(s). Bill tries his best to get a relationship going with these BYB and the Amish. Once that is established, he goes to them mostly on a daily basis. Before the puppy mill owner takes that 7-8 year old yorkie female that cannot produce anymore or who is sterile, or takes that 2-3 yr old male who is not up to par as a stud and shoots them in the head behind the barn, Bill takes them off his hands and off to the rescue they go. Yes, shooting a dog as a way of euthanazia is legal here. Only so much we as a community can do to try to stop these crazy laws put forth by state lawmakers. Another educational fact: PA has the harshest puppy mills laws of any state! Here is an excerpt from a well known canine magazine. This is also availabe on the rescues website www.mlar.org/about/ Main Line Animal Rescue is nationally recognized as a leader in the fight against puppy mill abuse. Our 2008 billboard in Chicago led to Oprah Winfrey’s groundbreaking and award winning expose on puppy mills and featured our undercover investigation with acclaimed journalist Lisa Ling. One year later, our efforts with Suzanne Smalley of Newsweek led to Whole Foods Markets issuing a directive to all their suppliers: they would no longer source any products from farmers also operating puppy mills. In 2011, MLAR wrapped a transit bus on the streets of Washington DC to draw attention to the USDA’s continued failure to protect dogs in federally licensed breeding kennels. Our work on behalf of puppy mill dogs has been profiled in People and featured on the Today show, Nightline, and numerous Animal Planet television programs. Main Line Animal Rescue was also instrumental in the passing of Pennsylvania’s new dog laws. And here is that puppy mill episode, for I am happy to say that I know Bill personally and what he is doing is amazing! It does have graphic material so those of you who are afraid of the truth, then dont watch!!! To those of you who want to take this post as educational and want to know the facts, then I'd advise viewing it. [--WARNING: GRAPHIC VIDEO--] Puppymills - YouTube | Just because some one doesn't know about another breed doesn't make them ignorant you didn't know about Biewer so did that make you ignorant? Lynzy does a lot for shutting down puppy mills in her area but until the demand for pet store puppies and such goes down there is always going to be puppy mills so educating the buyers is extremely important. You say your rescue is the biggest yet I'm pretty sure the ASPCA rescues more just by looking at there statistics but its not a game there is no better rescue ALL reputable rescues are equal ALL want to save dogs. Lynzy is so involved that your comments about her not being make me laugh so hard!
