Also, as you raise the needle to re-thread, turn the wheel toward you instead of away. That's the way the machine stitches and it won't pull as much thread back out as you begin to sew. To keep the thread from wadding up, you can take a stitch this way and then pull the bobbin thread to the top and then put both under and to the back of the presser foot. Quilters do this so they won't have a knotty messes on the underside of the quilt. Hope this makes sense.
