You should give it a try. It's nice to be able to tidy them up a little once in a while, even if you also use a groomer. Have you seen the trimmer set, I think it is called Scaredy Cut... scissor with attachments.

Looks super simple if you don't want to get involved with clippers.
I'm used to clippers from when I had Schnauzers, so my Yorkie and 3 Morkies all have a modified Schnauzer cut, haha. Hey, with 4 dogs, I'm saving over $250 every 5 weeks for grooming.
