As for meds, I personally don't think Metacam is enough. I just spoke with a friend whose pup was spayed and the vet put her on Rimadyl. I asked her to ask her vet if she would only take Motrin for a hysterectomy. Sheesh.
My vet always prescribes Tramadol and Metacam....or Bupranex and Metacam after spays and neuters. Maybe the pups don't show pain but that does not mean there is no pain.
I give pain meds for 3 - 4 days after these surgeries. I don't want to think a pup could be in pain.
