Every half hour is probably too much. Try every 2 hours or so, and 15 minutes after playtime, food time or right after a nap. Rewards is a good idea. |
How did Maggie first develop that behavior of going to the door? I'm wondering if it just happens after enough outside trips with huge praise. I give the command "Go Pee" outside, and my girl usually goes right away unless she just doesn't have to. Then it's playtime after she goes.
But I'm wondering how people get the ball rolling on having their pup start signaling when she wants to go out. The only time she whines is in the middle of the night in her crate when she has to go (usually only needed once or twice a week; she is 18 weeks now).
