Quick question about dental aftercare... Cooper had his first teeth cleaning today. He seems fine and I am boarding him tomorrow evening through Sunday. The vet said there shouldn't be any problem with that.
This is a kennel I haven't used before. I normally board him (with Lily the Boston) at the vet, and she's not with us anymore here. However, I must pick him up on Sunday and the vet's office doesn't open on Sunday.
I booked the kennel Tuesday, took him Tuesday afternoon to update his rabies vaccine and was shown how bad his teeth were....lots of tartar. Is there anything specific the kennel should be told and should I now take his own food? He eats dry kibble but I picked up some TOTW canned food for him to eat until his mouth is back to normal.
I also got an oral rinse to use daily to prevent the tartar buildup. As much as I've read here I didn't realize how often that needs to be done and was under the impression that is quite a costly procedure. In all the vet visits he's had it wasn't an issue before Tuesday. I guess I know better now.
Any advice to tell the kennel would be appreciated. He will be there from tomorrow afternoon until Sunday at noon.
