I am so sorry. I hope she improves and everything works out okay. Keep us posted please. I noticed someone had mentioned that yours and mine were so young and they thought of liver shunt in older dogs. There are 2 kinds of shunts. The congenital shunt that usually shows up early in puppies usually before a year old and the acquired shunt that shows up later in life. I had a 9 1/2 year old that I took in after her owner passed away and she was diagnosed with an acquired shunt. They dont even consider surgery anymore for older dogs because with the acquired shunt the liver is usually damaged beyond repairing itself and to do a shunt with a non-functioning liver, the dog would probably die during surgery. With the younger ones, they put the constricter on the shunt and it closes gradually by swelling and slowly closing off the shunt and gives the liver time to recover and regenerate and doesnt shock the liver by closing off all at once. Liver shunt is so horrible. I lost the 9 1/2 year old is less than 2 weeks.
