They'll last as long as your polish, you just have to put a top coat on. I did it in my gel polish, theoretically should last for a few weeks. The problem I'm having is the decal is lifting on the edges even though I put a gel top coat over. I have a plan for next time. I may need to put more water on them to soften them or leave the tacky layer of my gell on to help grip the decal before the last coat.
I feel like it shouldn't be this complicated.
