Yes, hair can be sharp. I try to break it off on the outside of the body if I have to. Otherwise I cut. The other day Toto apparently swallowed part of a tassel from a pillow. We have a few cheap pillows and the tassels come undone very easily. Well he went to poop, and there was a bit stuck. So I took him inside to get it off, and under the little nugget was a thick string sticking out of his butt from one of the tassels! Luckily it was short, and it came right out, but yuck.
