I use something similar from Tarte, but it's a powder. It basically that, it blurs all lines and pores. The first time I used it, I was like WOW! So I use that to set my makeup too.

I've used products with salicylic acid before, it worked well on pimples, but for pores I didn't notice any difference for me. I've always had larger pores on my nose, not really much anywhere else.
