Well i brought my yorkie in 2001 and had her for a year,then found myself with no-where to live so i had to give my yorkie(ellie bear) to my nan to look after, it broke my heart.A year and a half went by and i was settled into a new property by then my nan was attached to her, bearing in mind my nan had lost her yorkie three years ago.So i could'nt just take her away from my nan.Anyway late 2004 my nan passed away,and ellie finally came home and now were unseprable.
I don't even know if this info will help you, but all i can say is i no the feeling and it is sad, perhaps your daughter can let ted take holidays to your house! lol.
