I am textbook terrible when it comes to my purchasing history. Here are two examples of how not to purchase a puppy and one example of retribution.

I paid $300 for Charlie....a teacup (they really sold him as a teacup..Yes, I know now how silly that is). He had no paperwork or registration and we exchanged money and pup at a parking lot. He ended up weighing 15 pounds. It was a pretty big cup. I am pretty sure he was from a puppymill type situation. He was not fully weaned. He kept trying to nurse off of our male dog, Max. Max was not amused. He had a bad case of worms. I think he was actually around 4 weeks old. This would explain why he was so tiny and grew to be so big. He was filthy. I have since seen multiple ads from them. They are constantly selling puppies.

I paid $500 for Barney. I am still on the fence about his breeder. He is AKC registered. His paper work shows that he was champion sired and shows that they performed genetic testing but I don't know what testing was done. She offered no health guarantee and sold him without a spay/neuter contract. We were told he would end up around 9 pounds. We asked for a large yorkie. He is 7.5 months old and still only weighs 4.5 pounds. Again, I blindly purchased him from an ad in the paper. I wish I had known more about the right questions to ask.

Anna's shelter fee was $150. My retribution. She dispels any myths about older dogs from shelters. She is such a blessing. I hope that in some weird way, giving her a good life makes up for Charlie's mom.
