I would skip the dish soap and just use regular shampoo. Put a ring of shampoo around the neck first, then wet down the rest of your pup and apply shampoo generously. Work in the shampoo and let it sit for a minute or two before rinsing thoroughly.

Vacuum your entire home daily, every nook and cranny and under furniture. Wash everything that can be washed as often as possible.

Fleas lay eggs quickly, the eggs hatch about a week later perpetuating the cycle.

As suggested above, talk to your bet about flea preventatives. If your vet approves Frontline, you don't have to apply the whole dose. I split the smallest dose between my big boys.

Your vet may also prescribe something to help with the itchy, sore skin.
