I'd strongly suggest contacting your vet to get your precious pup on flea preventative. While I know Dawn detergent works in a pinch it's not something I'd use on one of my dogs regularly. PLEASE, rinse very well until the water runs clear of any bubbles and then rinse again.
As for alternatives you may find on the internet, some may work as a temporary solution but again, be cautious as some things posted on the internet can potentially harm your pup.
