Higher protein doesn't cause problems, it's only a problem if there is underlying disease that contraindicates higher protein.

It's the same as higher carbs don't cause disease, but they can be a problem is there is an underlying disease contraindicating high carb (think diabetes).

Canines are designed for higher protein diets. But if you're more comfortable with feeding mid-range protein, that's perfectly okay too!
