I don't know about your location. But there are a lot of untruths about heart worms created by people who feel that life in general is a conspiracy. The heart worm treatment has a very high risk of killing small dogs in fact there is a lovely women on this board who knows all about that and works with yorkie haven rescue. The preventive for heart worms does not hurt your dog so why not save the risk and just give the preventive.
