That is really sad. Who knows if the "buyer" even used a real name? It's a difficult lesson learned. Having spoken with a number of breeders myself, I don't know too many who would hand over a puppy upon receipt of a check that wasn't a bank check or certified or cash.
I've seen so many posts where people question breeders who use Paypal accounts -- well, here's a good reason.
