i would probably hold off until he is at least 9 months old an see how much he weighs then. he shouldn't get much bigger after that he might just fill in more. there is some wiggle room but it just depends on how big your dog is and the size you order. thats just my opinion maybe someone else that has more buddy belts could chime in. i just have the one and i didn't get it for Minnie until she was a year and 5 months old but she hit her full grown weight at about 9 months. she just got a little bit chubbier when she got spayed. she weighs 3.2 pounds and i got her the size 2 buddy belt. it fits her but if she has clothes on i have to put it on the last belt hole.
