If you believe in the ripple effect, then you are making a huge difference. I have learned many things that make me cringe. I had no idea about puppymills and bybs. I was blissfully ignorant until I came to this website. I am positive that Charlie, my first yorkie was a product of a puppymill. Cringe.....I actually got him from a parking lot. Barney's breeder seems to be on the up and up. But I do not like that she doesn't have a spay/neuter contract. Because of the education provided by you and others, we got Anna from a shelter. She was caged as a breeding machine for 6 years by a byb. I tell all of my family and close friends about her past. It's easy to deny it when it seems like something that happens in big cities but when they know it happened to this sweet baby it becomes very personal. Every time a friend or family member has a pet that becomes ill or has a structural issue (knees, hips, etc), I ask them if the pet came from a reputable breeder and start a conversation about bybs and puppymills. By the way, this happens a lot more often than it should. Slowly, but surely, the word is getting out there about the importance of purchasing puppies from reputable breeders or rescuing from shelters. I plan on making a simple book about Anna to share with my kindergarten students. Nothing too graphic, but enough to plant a seed about caring for our animals. All of this because someone like you took the time to come to a public website to educate others. That was the effect you had on me. Now, imagine the effect you have on others.
