Huey had terrible car sickness issues until I got him a car seat where he can see out of the window. Like that, he was pretty much cured. (He did ride in a crate on the passenger seat & couldn't see anything) There is only one trip that we take that he still gets sick, and that is miles and miles of twisty, turny, mountain roads and he gets sick at exactly the same spot every time. His favorite seat was a basket-type by Outward hound that I bought on line. We have destroyed that one after years of use and have gone to a snoozer-type seat, but he doesn't seem to feel as secure in that one as he did tucked down in the basket. As long as he can see out of the window, though, all is good.
We have never used any medication nor have we had to try the thundershirt, but I would certainly try the thundershirt and a car seat before meds.
