I use Vanguard Plus 5 for my vaccinations...here is the write up from the insert, in part:
"Vanguard® Plus 5 is recommended for the vaccination of healthy dogs against diseases caused by canine distemper, adenovirus type 1 (hepatitis), adenovirus type 2 (respiratory disease), parainfluenza, and parvovirus. All viruses in this vaccine are modified live versions of the virus. Recommended for the vaccination of healthy dogs 6 weeks of age or older.
Dosage:
Vaccination of healthy dogs 6 weeks of age or older.
Aseptically rehydrate the freeze-dried vaccine with the sterile diluent provided.
Shake well and administer 1mL subcutaneously or intramuscularly.
Primary vaccination: Healthy dogs 6 weeks of age or older should receive 3 doses, each given 3 weeks apart.Annual revaccination with one dose is recommended."
I start my shots at 8 weeks of age, 11 weeks of age, 14 weeks of age.....and using the vaccine I use on my dogs, that gives them the complete course required for immunity. At 1 year, a booster shot is given, then that is it as far as I am concerned....I will not give any more core vaccines. If I was concerned about protection, I would check titers....
