I would be bothered by strangers correcting my dog, unless I was failing to keep my dog in check. When I encounter a dog doing something unwanted toward me, I speak to the human, not the dog.
Giving my dogs commands -- also has not happened to me, but it would depend on the situation whether or not it bothered me. If someone wanted to see my dog perform tricks like sit or shake hands, that would be okay with me.
When my brothers visit, they quietly "shhhh" my dogs when they bark. I support that.
