The hospitals work in conjunction with Petsmart, and are typically located inside the Petsmart stores. My cost for the plan is $395 yearly, but that covers all doctor visits, vaccinations, a discount on all prescriptions, and one teeth cleaning per year (including all the prerequisites). They do a very good job, all the vets and assistants are very kind, gentle, and caring, and it is far less expensive than our original vet. Now, all that being said; if we ran into a life or death situation where expert surgery was required, I would likely consider our old vet, as he is a locally-renowned animal surgeon, and has been in the business for many years, and is also an animal rehabilitative specialist. But for the normal stuff, I trust the people at Banfield, and researched them extensively prior to signing up.
I also take Magnus/Zoey to Banfield. Magnus had his dental done last year and I was happy with the way things went. She called before/during/after the procedure to keep me in the loop. I know Banfield tends to have a bad rep but I think that really depends on the vet that works there. There's few vets that work at the one in my location and I do prefer one of the vet over the others. So unless it's somewhat of an emergency, I call to check and see which vet is working for the day I want schedule an appt.
