Default Update

I havent written on here in awhile so Ill just list some of whats happend since the last time Ive been on here.

On June 25th 2013 Buster was diagnosed as being 100% blind. It happened so fast....basically overnight. His eyesight was always failing since he is 13 but he could always still see things close to him but that one night we came home and noticed he was bumping into everything, walking in circles and going in areas he doesnt normally(walks into the bathroom and bumps his head on the toilet)
So we took him to the emergency vet immediately and she did tests and said yes he is totally blind...his cataracts worsened and now he's blind.

It was hard at first obviously because he would bump his head into walls and of course you want to help him and put pillows everywhere and carry him but the vet said to let him learn and find his way so we slowly let him walk around and we don't let him use the stairs. But now he's doing much better and has learned his way around the house and barely bumps his head. You can tell such a difference in him and how he walks around much slower and with caution so if he does bump into a wall....its more like just barely grazing the wall.

Im just grateful that he doesn't have glaucoma which is the hardening of the eye and that is painful..

Just the month before that he was limping and then so I took him the vet and it seemed his kneecap was bothering him and he had luxating patella. So she said theres not much we can do..we got some new supplements and also since we got to a holistic vet they did a laser treatment on his knee and its supposed to help reduce pain and inflammation. His limping was gone the next day and hasn't come back since.

In the past hes also had 8 teeth removed at one time during a teeth cleaning, and at a second teeth cleaning he had one tooth removed. He also had surgery to remove some stones that were in the wall of his bladder and he also had a bladder infection. Was diagnosed with hypertension(High blood pressure, he has to take meds for it everyday) and his blood work shows his kidney isnt 100%. Hes had numerous x-rays, ultrasounds, urine tests and blood tests.
He had his eye scratched by a cat too.

List of his supplements:
Multi-Vitamin: Rx Vitamins for PETS - Rx ESSENTIALS FOR DOGS (Really great high quality with extras like spirulina, chicory root, milk thistle, kelp, beta carotene)
Omegas: Abound - Hemp Oil for dogs
Probiotic: Rx Vitamins for PETS - Rx Biotic
Glucosamine for joints: UBA Vet Gold - Glucosamine HCL powder formula
Bowel health support: RX Vitamins for PETS - Nutrigest
Vision supplement: Ocu-GLO RX
Organ support (liver & kidney): Standard process - Arginex
Kidney support: Standard process - Renafood
Energy supplement: Ultimate pet - Rejeneril
Cough relief: NaturTech - Respirare
Amlodipine besolate: for high blood pressure

Poor guy! Im just so thankful that hes pulled through all of this.
