It important that puppies get the added nutrition but more importantly the calcium that puppy food provides for their growing bones and teeth. You should keep them on the puppy food for at least a year.

Plus when you switch food I can and normally does cause an up set or worse diarrhea do so gradually. You will want to mix the old and new foods for a couple of week mixing (80/20% 60/40% 50/50% 40/60%) until you get to 100% new food.
