Default Collapsed trachia

Our 3.9 pound Yorkie, Oliver, has been diagnosed with a collapsing trachea. He makes a snorting, honking type noise when he exerts himself, especially when it is hot and humid. He did this alttle last year, but this summer it is significantly worse in that it happens more frequently and is more intense. The vet said this is common for Yorkies and there is nothing to do except calm him down and move him to a cooler, less humid environment. Any thoghts or suggestions would be appreciated.
