Yes I agree with Donna. WE don't have a pool in our backyard, but er um we trained our dogs well, as we usually structure our walks to have a mid-walk swim. So they are always looking to the water. And of course they can smell water from miles away. So the start of the walk, while not anxious they are eager to go; the closer we get, the more our big boy whines, whines like a baby for the water.
Magic won't even have lunch when we get to the water, he must fetch and retrieve, and now Razzle is getting as bad. So that ratchets up our rest time.
The humans are hungry the dogs need to eat, so we let them cool off for 5minutes or so, then we feed water doggies. Let them rest a bit, and give them then a good swim time.
And it is back hike home again. Sometimes depending on where we are, they get another swim before dinner, then I make dinner, and groom after dinner.
