Lola is on our routine and I am sure a lot of that has to do with the fact she sleeps in our bed but does not get in and out of it on her own. She sleeps where ever I happen to be at the time until I carry her off to bed.

I had a pair of yorkies that were crated in our basement at night. We always went to bed around 10 but on those nights we stayed up late, you would see them circling but the basement door and looking up at me, like Mom it's bed time when are you going to take us down there. I did not want them going on their own since the last thing I would do before putting them away for the night was take them out to potty. Same thing with Lola I carry her out side just before we all hit the hay.
