Make sure the first dog has a place to escape the second one and relax, especially if the second one is younger and more prone to puppy antics.

Try to set a schedule of activities: sleep time, meal times, play time that involves you, and training. When we added a second dog, having a routine and directing their attention to positive activities like training brought them together and calmed down the younger one. Training was very simple: performing sits, handshakes, down, etc for a single kibble.
