You can buy heavy duty padding to make your own... I needed to add some as the ready made just weren't doing the job. As for the cover... what do you need it for? I made two extra covers in a fabric I like (actually old sheets, lol) so I can wash them frequently, they go over the store bought covers (2) and the extra padding, lol. (Yes, I have a very plush ironing surface). Little triangles (from the metal board surface) kept showing up on DH's work shirts, almost like they were embossed! Cute, but really not a good thing, lol.

Oh, and I just layer it all on then throw my home made cover on it to hold everything in place. Works well for me.
