Ours are on free feed (they eat whenever they want) because they don't gorge themselves and all of them are at a healthy weight.
With yours being so tiny, you definitely have to watch to make sure she doesn't become overweight, because excess weight on any dog is dangerous, but particularly tiny ones like yours, as they have to support that weight.
If she's not eating everything you're giving her, but *is* eating - I would think she's getting enough.
Have you asked your vet about this? Is she at a healthy weight *for her body type*? 1 lb, 11 ounces is a very tiny pup, but her weight still could be healthy if it is proportionate to the rest of her.
With regard to her refusing to eat dry kibble - have you had her teethers checked by a vet to make sure they're healthy and there are no abscesses or retained teeth that are bothering her? I've not heard of a dog refusing any sort of dry food before. We have some picky eaters in this forum, but I don't remember seeing any that didn't eat any dry food at all. Dry food is good for their teeth and gums. |
