I'm not opposed to 12 week+ Yorkies being sold by a
reputable breeder who screens his or her applicants thoroughly before doing so.
People lie. People say whatever they have to, to get what they want.
We have so many unwanted dogs in shelters, many of which are purebreds. Where do you think they come from?
Idiots buying dogs without thinking about the commitment they are taking one when adding another member to their family. Granted, some do come from backgrounds which included all the proper screening and applications but I feel it is safe to say that the amount compared to "other sources" is very low.
How do you think all the mixes ended up in the shelter?
The above-mentioned idiots failed in their commitment to their family member. People letting their dogs wander around unneutered and unspayed, and they probably got those dogs from a classified ad or their buddy down the street, who got it from someone else willy-nilly.
If people would stop selling puppies and dogs willy-nilly in a classified ad - we wouldn't have the overpopulated shelters and rescue organizations.
I disagree. People will just buy from wreckless neighbors & family members...there's lots out there. Classified ads make it very easy for anyone to just go buy a puppy and then get sick of it later, and dump it in the shelter. OR...breed it knowing nothing of its medical history, genetic make-up, liver health, etc...only to make more puppies to sell to other people via a classified listing. "Purebred puppies, no papers, $300" Miss Nomoney Naomi says "WOOOT there's my puppy!" and continues the escalating problem of overpopulation.
If people would use the brains God gave them, they'd stop breeding their dogs simply to share the miracle of birth or because "they wanted puppies".
I don't believe it's a simple matter of advertising. Responsible, reputable breeders (in my not so humble opinion) do not advertise their puppies for sale in a classified listing...
really??? There are members on here that seem to be viewed as "reputable" that sell on my local Ebay classifieds. like they're some sort of dress, t-shirt or a 99 cent special on apples.

(I wouldn't assume that because a breeder is on YT, or even on YT and well liked, that they are "reputable" ) make it very clear that a puppy is for sale, but they also make it very clear that you're going to have to jump through hoops in order to get said puppy (which is how it should be).
Probably where we differ. I'm not much of a "hoop jumper" myself. I want to pay my money & get my dog.
To answer your question, no...I'm not 'against' the sale of Yorkies of any age (12+ weeks), what I am against is the willy-nilly selling of said puppies without any requirement of the buyer other than money.
I've never bought a puppy 12+ weeks and wouldn't choose to personally.
Call any one of those ads - I called three of them (not because I wanted one) but because I was concerned. All you need is money - no application to fill out, no questions asked, no vet references and the puppy is yours.
Lastly, those 7 week old puppies were available to purchase and take home at 7 weeks, it wasn't a deposit only listing.
And I'm not raging at you Kazzy, I'm just answering the question in such a way as to make it clear why I feel the way I do.
