Our groomer does it. Years ago when we first got Charlie, we didn't realize that glands had to be drained. One day when he was still a pretty young puppy, my husband and I kept accusing each other of smelling bad. We finally realized it was Charlie. When my groomer told me about draining his glands I nearly died on the spot. He had to have it done often. Up to that point, I thought his scooting was a cute little quirky behavior. Yes, I know, I am not the brightest bulb on the tree. So far, we have not noticed any odors or scooting from Barney and Anna. I told my groomer to only do it if she feels it's necessary.
