My neighbor owns Blazer's mother and we see them almost every day. We ask ourselves quite often if the two dogs remember that they are mom and pup. I think, overall, that these two do. Abby, Blazer's mother, will still protect him if she thinks he needs it but usually she acts like an annoyed parent. Sometimes they will play, sometimes they will "fight."
My big boy, Buddy, would not likely remember his mother, or siblings, for that matter- he left them when he was almost 4 months old.
My neighbors a couple of houses down have a Yorkie female who is just two weeks younger than Blazer. They have only played with each other a handful of times but they know where the other is and fight to be together when ever they see each other. Every time that girl gets loose from her house she is over here trying to get into mine. I refer to her as Blazer's "girlfriend."
Dogs definitely have memories, but whether or not they remember the same things in the same way we do is up for discussion. I think it is more of association with dogs than memory.
